THE WORD OF GOD

But he answered and said, " It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4 KJV

Through His Word, we are continually being changed into what we were created to be – confirmed to His likeness, increasing in the character and nature of God. As we study the word of God, we follow Jesus' example. As believers, we seek to follow Jesus' example in all things.

The word of God directs us in wisdom and creates meaningful connections. It provides necessary encouragement, and it keeps us accountable. It transforms our families, workplaces and communities. Studying God's word strengthens you to say “no” to lesser things and sin in your life. As more of the Scriptures are stored up in your heart, you'll be strengthened in the core of your being, your heart.

“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7 KJV).

Reading the word of God gives us courage and keeps us faithful and fruitful. The Word of God produces faith: “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ,” (Rom. 10:17 KJV).

As humans, we are drawn to situations that make us feel comfortable, entertained, and justified. But that is not how people improve. Followers of Christ are drawn to things that cause them to grow in righteousness. Being exposed to the truth through God's word causes people to be exposed to the truth about themselves and compels them to change how they think and what they do. It doesn't feel good. It produces good. God’s Word is the unchanging source of truth. It does not sway in the direction of public opinion or the ideologies of modern culture.

As we accept the infallible Word of God, it cleanses us, frees us from the bondage of sin, and makes us holy. God’s powerful word keeps our faith alive.
